be careful all "Wides" even from the same company are not alike

on 2007-10-25I ordered 2 pairs of New Balance - both wide. This pair came first, I thought they seemed "too wide", but tried wearing them anyway. They are huge. The second pair, 557's in a "wide" arrived and are perfect. Ordering a "wide" even from the same manufacturer can be different and in this case, vastly different. Unfortunately the 747's pair is so wide and uncomfortable they can't be worn, they seem like 747 jumbo jets. I walk 4-8 miles 6 days a week for exercise and like New Balance, but will be skeptical about ordering them on line in the future. I feel like I wasted $80.
