plug n play doesn't work

I have a new Dell XPS 410 desktop. This drive will not be recognized during bootup. Each time I have to press F2 to configure the setup, yet it still won't register the drive. When the computer continues starting the drive will work. Yet each time the computer reboots itself ( Windows automatic update, for example) the computer stalls at setup.
This is totally unacceptable
